I like a book that looks generous before I even open it. The Nature of Our National Parks sounds like a strong candidate for that shelf.
Books like this live or die on whether they feel like more than a souvenir. I want real texture, the sense that somebody cared about what these places mean, not just how they photograph.
If it delivers that, it is the sort of title I would happily recommend as a gift, then quietly buy one more copy because I wanted it for myself too.
